HuntStand users can upload KML files to HuntStand on the HuntStand website or on an Android mobile device via the HuntStand app. Directions for both import methods are below. Please submit a request to contact our support team if you have any questions.
Android App
Using a link of any sort to a KML file with HuntStand installed on the device will allow you to open that file with HuntStand. If not, check your Android system settings for file associations. By default, however, it will ask how you'd like to open the file. Select HuntStand and it will open, read the file, and hopefully display the success or failure of parsing the KML file. Added to HuntStand will be a new Hunt Area named after the KML file. Open Mapping, select the hunt area and you should see the results.
HuntStand Website
- Log in to your HuntStand account on huntstand.com on a laptop or desktop computer.
- Create a new Hunt Area or select an existing Hunt Area.
- On the sidebar menu on the MAPPING page, click the HUNT AREA SETTINGS button.
- Scroll to the bottom of the EDIT HUNT AREA window and click SELECT FILE below IMPORT KML.
- Select the KML file you wish to import and click UPLOAD AND IMPORT.
Viewing Imported Map Objects on HuntStand.com
You will be automatically redirected to the MAPPING page for that Hunt Area. You should be able to view the map objects on the map and view the list of map objects on the LIST tab. The location and map-object type will be accurately displayed on your Hunt Area, however, depending on the original source of the KML, some map-object characteristics (i.e. color) may appear differently on HuntStand. You can edit the color and name of map objects on the MAPPING page.
Viewing your Imported Map Objects on the HuntStand App
To view the imported map objects on your HuntStand app, SYNC the Hunt Area on the app. While you have a strong WiFi or data connection, tap the CURRENT HUNT AREA banner at the top of the screen to view a list of your Hunt Areas. Then tap the SYNC button (circular arrows.) next to the name of the Hunt Area you'd like to sync. You may find this brief tutorial video helpful.
